Getafe sign Premier League target Ciprian Marica

Getafe sign free-agent striker and Romanian international Ciprian Marica, who had previously been interesting North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham.

La Liga outfit Getafe have completed the signing of reported Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Ciprian Marica on a free transfer.

The out-of-contract Romanian international striker had been linked with a move to either of the North London duo after leaving Schalke 04 to become a free agent in the summer.

Following weeks of speculation over his next destination, Marica's representative revealed earlier this week that his client was heading to Spain after talks over a move to Spurs fell through.

Getafe have beaten off competition from apparent admirers Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano to land the 27-year-old forward, who has also represented Stuttgart and Shakhtar Donetsk during his career.

Marica, who has netted 22 times in 64 appearances for his country, will provide competition for Adrian Colunga and Nicolas Fedor Miku in the Getafe attack.
