Mohamed Salah sets out to equal a 96-year Merseyside derby feat for Liverpool when Everton travel to Anfield for Sunday's Premier League clash.

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah will be out to equal a Merseyside derby feat from 96 years ago when the Reds welcome Everton to Anfield for Sunday's Premier League clash.

The Egypt international endured a difficult spell in front of goal at the start of the month but rediscovered his attacking touch with two strikes and an assist in Tuesday's 4-0 success over Manchester United.

Salah now has 30 goals and 12 assists to his name from 42 appearances in all competitions this season, and he was on target twice in December's 4-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Should Salah bag at least another brace on Sunday, he will become the first Liverpool player for 96 years to score at least two goals in both league meetings with Everton in a single season.

Dick Forshaw was the most recent Reds player to do in the 1925-26 season, bagging a hat-trick at home while finding the back of the net twice at Goodison Park.

Jurgen Klopp's men welcome Everton to Anfield aiming to keep the pressure on leaders Manchester City at the top of the table, while 15 places and 47 points separate them from their Merseyside rivals in the rankings.
