Manuel Pellegrini focussed on improving Manchester City defence

Manuel Pellegrini says that Manchester City are constantly trying to improve their defending amid their superb attacking form.

Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that Manchester City are working on improving their defensive performances in training in order to match it up with their high standards of attacking displays.

While City have been clinical in attack, scoring over 100 goals already this season, they have been suspect at the back at times. Pellegrini made known his anger at the defence after last Saturday's FA Cup scare against Watford, when City recovered from 2-0 down to win 4-2, describing their performance as a "disaster".

"Maybe you don't believe me but we work more on defending than attacking because of course it is difficult to when you have to defend with less defenders," Pellegrini said in a press conference.

"I think it is very important to know how to do it and that's the way we work here.

"For the moment, we will continue in the same way. Maybe it's my opinion and I am wrong but I think this team defends very well."

City travel to White Hart Lane tonight to face Tottenham Hotspur.
