Manchester United are reportedly unlikely to move for Kalidou Koulibaly this summer as they do not view the Napoli centre-back as an essential signing.

Manchester United are reportedly unlikely to move for Kalidou Koulibaly this summer despite Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being a huge admirer of the Napoli centre-back.

Koulibaly has been tipped to leave his Italian club during this summer's transfer window, and United are one of a number of sides to be credited with an interest in his services.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Solskjaer regards Koulibaly as one of the best centre-backs in world football, while the club are 'long-time admirers' of the Senegal international.

However, the report claims that the 20-time English champions do not view the 28-year-old 'as an essential target' ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

United broke the transfer record for a central defender when they signed Harry Maguire from Leicester City last summer, while Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are all on the club's books.

Koulibaly - also thought to be interesting Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain - could allegedly be available for £74m during this summer's transfer window.
