Jurgen Klopp equals unwanted Bill Shankly record in Liverpool defeat

Jurgen Klopp became the first Liverpool manager to lose his 300th match in charge since Bill Shankly in 1965 when the Reds were beaten at Leicester City on Saturday.

Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Leicester City saw Jurgen Klopp become the first Liverpool manager to lose his 300th match in charge of the English giants since Bill Shankly in 1965.

Mohamed Salah sent the reigning claims into a 1-0 lead in the 67th minute of the contest, but James Maddison, Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes all netted late on to secure an important win for the Foxes.

Liverpool have now lost each of their last three league matches to sit fourth in the table, just one point clear of fifth-placed Chelsea, who have a game in hand.

Klopp became the ninth manager to take charge of 300 matches for Liverpool on Saturday, and the defeat to Brendan Rodgers's side saw him become the first Reds boss to lose his 300th game since Shankly in 1965.

The German has won 177, drawn 70 and lost 53 of his competitive fixtures in charge of the Merseyside giants since arriving in October 2015.

Liverpool will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash on Tuesday night.
