Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho insists that his team will only sign a new striker this month if the deal is right for the club.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that his team will only sign a new striker during the January transfer window if the deal is right for the club.

Harry Kane's long-term absence with a hamstring injury has left a gaping hole in the final third, and Lucas Moura has struggled to contribute through the middle in Tottenham's last two Premier League games.

The capital giants drew another blank against Watford on Saturday as the pair played out a goalless draw, but Mourinho has said that his side will not be forced into making a new signing in attack.

"If it is possible then yes, if it is not possible then no. We all want the best for the team, the best for the club, that is obvious, but we have to do things when it is possible," Mourinho told reporters when asked whether a new forward would arrive in the winter window.

"This is not the last match of Tottenham's history. We have to be calm and be loyal to the boys. If it happens, it happens, but if it doesn't, it doesn't."

AC Milan's Krzysztof Piatek and Benfica's Ze Luis have both been linked with moves to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in recent weeks.
